Kolkata: A fact finding team of six members of Association for Protection of Civil Rights (APCR), Kolkata, visited the Dara Para area of Kolkata on Sunday, December 23, 2012 to find out the facts about the missing children’s incidents.
The team met the parents of Sk. Danish, son of Abdul Hamid, a child of 08 years who went missing on December 10, 2012 from his house. His parents registered a missing complaint at the local police station after 3 days. On December 13, the child’s body was found in a mutilated condition some 5 kilo meters away from his house, near a pond in Topsia. The Police is yet to find the reasons that led to the death of the child.
The team also met the parents of Mania Khatoon@ Afsara Khatoon daughter of Md. Samser from the same locality. Mania went missing on December 18 from in front of her house. A general diary entry was made at the local police station but no result was seen till December 20.
The anxious and helpless parents of Mania sought the help of friends, relatives and neighbours and reported the matter to OC, Missing person’s squad, D.D, Lal Bazar. Mania’s details have been put up on the police website but no further progress is seen.
People in the locality appear angry with the police and administration for neglecting their cause. They find themselves helpless as nobody has turned up for their help. A strong rumour has spread in and around the area about kidney racket abducting children. Parents are keeping a close watch on the movements of the outsiders.
