Fans brave freezing weather at India-Pakistan match

By IANS,

New Delhi : Jackets, sweaters, scarves and hoodies were the name of the game as cricket fans braved freezing temperatures to see the third and final One-Day International (ODI) between India and Pakistan at the Ferozeshah Kotla here Sunday.

With day temperatures hovering around the eight degrees Celsius mark, the spectators had little respite from the cold breeze speepping the ground.

Even the players on the field constantly had their hands in their pockets and wore woollen jumpers to keep the cold away.

One fan, who came from Faridabad, said that he had to leave his house in the early hours of the morning and brave the cold to reach the stadium on time.

“I left my house at eight in the morning so that I could reach here on time. It was so cold that I carried an extra jacket. The cold didn’t subside even in the afternoon,” Amit Kumar, a BPO employee, told IANS.

“Lot of people here are covered from head to toe. The only way to keep the cold out has been the constant jumping and screaming. But I don’t mind all this. After all, we rarely get to see India take on Pakistan in our own backyard,” he said.

Temperatures are set to go further down as the night sets in and many fans are hoping for a quick end to the game.
