Kota, Rajasthan: Humera Khan, a B.Sc. student of JDB Government PG Girls College, Kota, has got the prestigious Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (INSPIRE) scholarship.
The Ministry of Science and Technology offers the INSPIRE scholarship to promote science and technology education. Under the scheme 10,000 scholarships are offered every year @ Rs.80,000/- each for undertaking Bachelor and Masters level education in the Natural and Basic sciences.

Humera is the first girl from the Khaildar community in Rajasthan to receive this award. She was among the first 1 % students in her senior secondary examinations in her respective board, with 85 % marks. In Class 10, Humera had secured 80.33 % marks.
The scholarship is provided for five years to complete masters’ course, provided the student maintains ‘academic excellence and performance.’
Speaking to TCN, Humera sounded elated as she declared that she wants to prepare for UPSC and become an IAS officer. She added that she will focus on her studies to continue her good performances.
Her father, Hafiz Saleem, who is a local auto-mobile dealer expressed his gratitude to the government and thanked the Almighty for his benevolence. A proud father, he wants her daughter to complete her studies, and was happy that her education won’t be restrained due to fiancés.
Humera is happy that not only she can complete her education now, but she can also aid her four siblings in completing their studies.
She has already got the money for two years.
Scholarship for Higher Education (SHE) aims at attracting talented youth into undertaking higher education in science intensive programmes, by providing scholarships and mentoring through ‘summer attachment’ to performing researchers.
Calling it, great news, not only for Humera’s family, but the whole Khaildar Community, Ziyaul Islam of Khaildar Anjuman, believes that she can become a symbol for girls in the community. He added, “We hope and pray that she continues with this performance and keep achieving her goals.”
