Islamabad : At least six people, including a child, were burnt to death after a fire broke out in a building in Pakistan’s Lahore city early Sunday. However, 43 trapped people were rescued from the inferno, Dawn News reported.
The injured were shifted to nearby hospitals where the condition of four victims was reported as critical. Rescue officials claimed that the fire was caused by a short-circuit.
According to Geo News, the blaze, which gutted third floor of the building, also affected four other blocks in the neighbourhood before firemen could reach the site.
It took hours to finally douse the fire, as it had reignited despite having been brought under control after four hours, a fire official said. About 14 fire tenders had to be pressed into service to control the fire.
