Hyderabad: On the first day of its two day police custody in Nizamabad, Majlis Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) MLA Akabaruddin Owaisi was interrogated for several hours today by two town police officials in connection to his alleged hate speech delivered in December last year.
According to police sources Akbaruddin Owaisi was brought to District Armed Reserved Head Quarter from Adilabad District Jail, 143 KM away from Nizamabad by car in a tight security following the orders of district court which has granted permission to district police to interrogate him for two days February 1 and 2. Owaisi was booked under several sections including 121 (waging war against the state) 153 A ( hate speech) last month by the II Town police.

The Nirmal police already interrogated Akabaruddin Owaisi for four days last month in the same case. He was arrested by police on Jan 8 and since then been lodged in Adilabad. Family sources say his health condition is deteriorating since he was arrested as he is suffering from various ailments.
41 year old Owaisi has been booked under same charges in different parts of the state and a fresh case was booked in Atmakur, Kurnool district yesterday after a lawyer Balram Naik approached the local court seeking a case against the MLA.
Meanwhile the Aurangaband Division bench of Mumbai Court issued a notice to the City Police Commissioner questioning the reasons of cancelling Hyderabad MP and MIM President Asaduddin Owaisi meeting in the town slated on February 1 and 2. After denial of the police permission to hold public meeting in Auragnabad the local unit of MIM went to court seeking its intervention.
Justice P. V. Haridas and Justice B.V. Deshmukh gave a day notice to city police commissioner for reply. Earlier the Aurangabad police served a notice on Asaduddin Owaisi at his Hyderabad residence informing him about the cancellation of the public meeting to be addressed by him and also ban on his visit to Aurangabad for one month.
Owaisi termed the police notice about banning his visit to Aurangabad, 5th biggest city of Maharashtra state as a serious violation of his freedom to travel anywhere in the country.” As a citizen and as a member of parliament I have right to go anytime and anywhere in India,” he said and added that Maharashtra government is afraid of MIM’s popularity in the state since the party made a land mark victory in the recent Nanded Municipal Corporation elections. He strongly objected the wordings of the notice and questioned the “authority” of an IPS officer asking him that why he haven’t condemned his younger brother Akbaruddin Owaisi’s alleged controversial speech ?
