Lucknow : A team of Maharashtra Police Monday visited the Maha Kumbh in Allahabad to study the security arrangements made by their counterparts in Uttar Pradesh for the world’s largest religious congregation, an official said.
The team, headed by Deputy Superintendent of Police Sunil Sawant, was on a four-day visit to prepare for the next Kumbh Mela scheduled to be held in Nasik in 2015.
Sawant spoke to reporters and praised the security arrangements made by Uttar Pradesh Police in Allahabad, some 170 km from here.
More than 30,000 policemen have been positioned across the 58 sq. km area where the Maha Kumbh is being held.
