New Delhi : India and Russia have to work together against the scourge of terrorism, Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar said Tuesday while welcoming a parliamentary delegation from Russia.
“Terrorism is a scourge which India and Russia have to address together,” she said while welcoming the delegation led by Valentina I. Matvienko, chairperson of the Council of Federation, the Russian parliament’s upper house.
Observing that the relationship between India and Russia is unique and warm based on rock-solid foundations, the speaker said the two countries have commonality of views on most of the global issues.
She expressed her deep appreciation for Russia’s support for India’s candidature for permanent membership in the UN Security Council and highlighted the role being played by India and Russia in BRICS, G20 and various other international fora.
