Mecca : Officials of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) haj mission Sunday held a series of meetings here in an effort to remove possible obstacles impeding the pilgrimage ahead of the start of the season Monday.

Head of the official mission Mohammed Obaid Al-Mazroui urged all members of the mission to intensify efforts to ensure the UAE pilgrims’ safety, health and security.

Al Mazroui said the UAE is keen on providing the best services and security for the country’s pilgrims.

A contingency plan to deal with any emergencies among UAE pilgrims has been prepared by the mission’s medical team.

The mission officials inspected tents and other facilities in the city of Mina Saturday.

Around 30,000 pilgrims from the UAE have arrived in Mecca. More pilgrims from around the globe are expected to arrive here on the eve of the most celebrated day of the Muslims – the Eid-ul-Adha, meaning “the Festival of Sacrifice”.
