Mumbai : The Indian cricket Board Sunday deferred a decision on the issue of compensation for chief selector Dilip Vengsarkar after asking him not to write his newspaper column.
“No decision was taken about any compensation,” N. Srinivasan, treasurer of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), told reporters after a working committee meeting here.
The Vengsarkar issue was expected to be discussed at the meeting after the former India captain had sought compensation for not writing his column following objections that his views clashed with his job as chairman of selectors.
Vengsarkar had also objected to the newly framed rules for the selectors, which are believed to have been imposed following his clash with the BCCI oer the compensation issue.
“At present, the guidelines for the selectors stand,” Srinivasan said referring to the likely dilution of the rules at the meeting.
One of the decisions taken at the meeting was to increase the infrastructure subsidy for BCCI’s affiliated units.
“We have decided to increase the infrastructure subsidy from Rs. 250 million to Rs. 500 milion,” said Srinivasan.
The members also ratified the appointments of new Indian team coach Gary Kirsten of South Africa and Dav Whatmore’s appointment as director of operations for the Bangalore-based National Cricket Academy.
