Digvijaya Singh assured the delegation that the government is very serious on the issue and AMU will certainly be declared a minority educational institution soon.

Presenting the demand of restoration of minority status to AMU, MBMC Secretary Jasim Mohammad said that usually Member of Parliament, Members of States Assembly and people are not aware about the minority status of AMU and so we will publish a book on the issue soon. He said that it is the historical fact that AMU was established for bringing Muslims of India into mainstream. Jasim demanded that the government should amend Article 30(1) if necessary and declare Minority Status to AMU.

N. Jamal Ansari pointed out that in 1920 MAO college was incorporated into AMU and there is no controversy over it that MAO college was founded by Muslims, so the government has no difficulty in declaring AMU, a minority institution”.

The delegation included Dr. Naseem Ashraf, former President of AMUSU, Dr. G.F. Sabri and Daulat Ram also.
