BJP continues to dodge Modi ascent issue

Panaji : The BJP continued to keep everyone guessing on the role of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi in the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls.

An hour after spokesperson Syed Shahanawaz Hussain Sunday promised “good news” at 12 noon, the BJP leader again dodged questions on Modi’s possible appointment as the campaign chief for the 2014 general election.

Asked about the reason for the delay behind making the much-awaited Modi announcement, Hussain said: “You will have to wait. Not for days or hours, but for minutes. When the decision is made it will be conveyed to you.”

Sunday is the concluding day of the three-day party conclave during which the BJP national executive body met during the last two days.

All eyes are set on the imminent elevation of Modi as the party’s face for the 2014 Lok Sabha polls.

Modi, recently appointed a member of the party’s parliamentary board, is likely to be given a major role in leading the BJP’s parliamentary battle.

This has upset several party leaders including veteran L.K. Advani, who skipped the Goa meet citing health reasons.
