New Delhi : The Border Security Force (BSF) will donate over Rs.16 crore for disaster relief in flood-ravaged Uttarakhand. “We are donating one day’s salary of all personnel,” a BSF statement said here.
The BSF said it would adopt a few of the devastated villages with a view to providing rehabilitation and reconstruction in the longer term.
Director General Subhash Joshi will hand over Rs.10 crore to Uttarakhand Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna as an immediate relief measure for the residents of the flood-affected areas of Uttarakhand, the statement said, adding: “An amount of Rs.5 lakh each will also be given to the families of the Uttarakhand Police and Indo-Tibetan Border Police personnel deceased and missing in the rescue operation.”
