Gurgaon: Ravneet Garg, the chief judicial magistrate (CJM) of Gurgaon, was booked for the murder of his wife who was found dead here with bullet wounds two days ago, police said Saturday.

Pradeep Aggarwal, brother of the CJM’s wife Geetanjali, had lodged a first information report against Garg and his parents under penal provisions for murder and common intent Code, police said.

Gitanjali, 24, was found dead with three bullet injuries Thursday evening and Garg’s licensed revolver was found near the body, police said.

“Ravneet and Geetanjali got married Nov 2007. Every thing was fine for a few years but the attitude of Ravneet and his parents towards Geetanjali started changing after she delivered two baby girls (now aged around 4.5 and three years),” Aggarwal said in his complaint.

He demanded a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into his sister’s murder. “Ravneet Garg was holding the post of CJM, he may influence the police investigation,” Pradeep said.

He added in his complaint that Geetanjali had an injury on the head and three bullet wounds on her body.

“Two relatives of Ravneet (a 25-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman) may throw some light on my daughter’s murder as they were present in Gurgaon when the murder took place and incident came to light,” Geetanjali’s father Om Prakash Aggarwal told IANS on the phone from Panchkula.

“The police tried to prove that it was a suicide case from the day one while there were clear indications that it was a murder,” Aggarwal alleged.

He added: “I spoke to her (Geetanjali) around 3 p.m. July 17 (Wednesday) while my son also spoke to her 1.30 p.m. the same day but she did not give any indication that any thing was amiss.”

Geetanjali had left her house around 3 p.m. Wednesday and her body was found in the bushes near a play ground after a few hours, police said.

Police Saturday issued notice to Ravneet Garg and his parents to join the investigation.

The penal of doctors that conducted autopsy said the woman could not have shot herself thrice to commit suicide.
