New Delhi : Uttar Pradesh legislator Haji Aleem’s wife was killed here over a property dispute, allegedly by two of his sons from an earlier marriage, police said Sunday.

Rehana, 40, wife of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) legislator Aleem, who represents Bulandshahr, was killed Oct 9 at her New Jafrabad residence in Delhi.

According to police, the legislator’s sons Danish and Anas murdered her with the help of their driver Nadeem, who has been arrested. It was all over a property dispute.

Nadeem, 30, was arrested in Seemapuri here Sunday morning. He named the legislator’s two sons, who are absconding, said a police officer.

Police said Aleem did not have a happy relationship with his first wife Kehkasha and the two sons who lived in Bulandshahr. They had raised objections over the property owned by Rehana in Delhi.

“On Oct 8, Danish, Anas and Nadeem came from Bulandshahr to Delhi. Danish fired at Rehana while Nadeem stabbed her several times,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police V.V. Chaudhary.

Rehana’s body, which bore 12 deep wounds and two bullet injuries, was discovered by her maid the next morning.

Rehana lived with Aleem in Bulandshahr. She visited the Delhi home at least twice a month. She came to Delhi just four days before her killing when Aleem had gone to Makkah, police said.

Police said Rehana and Aleem married in 1990.
