“The three-day central committee meeting will be held in Agartala from Dec 13. On the last day of the meeting, a big rally would be organised here Dec 15,” Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) Tripura state secretary Bijan Dhar told reporters.
He said: “Before the 87-member central committee meeting, the party’s 15-member politburo would meet Dec 13. This is for the first time the CPI-M’s central committee and politburo meetings would be held in Tripura.”
The CPI-M, which was formed at the Seventh Party Congress of the Communist Party of India, held in Calcutta from October 31 to November 7 in 1964, came to power in Tripura in 1978. After one term break in 1988-1993, the CPI-M led Left Front has since been in power in the northeastern state.
