Islamabad : A 60-member delegation from Pakistan will attend the 5th SAARC Business Leaders Conclave in New Delhi Jan 17.
The private sector traders’ delegation will be led by vice-president of the SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s (SCCI) Pakistan chapter, Iftikhar Ali Malik, the Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) reported Sunday.
The theme of this year’s conclave is ‘The South Asia Century: Progressing Towards Regional Integration’.
SCCI sources told APP in Lahore Sunday that, after establishing its credentials as the ‘Davos of South Asia’, the business leaders conclave is the most prestigious private sector initiative in South Asia supported by all national chambers of commerce and industries from SAARC member countries.
Leading policy makers from private and public sectors will be among the delegates who will also address conclave.
Members of the Pakistan delegation will also have one-to-one interaction with their counterparts from other SAARC nations for the promotion of trade and exploring investment avenues in different sectors among member countries.
To be chaired by Vikramjit Singh Sahney, president of SCCI, the conclave is being organised in collaboration with the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) and India’s commerce and industry ministry in partnership with Friedrich Naumann Stifung Fur die Freiheit, a German foundation for liberal politics with offices in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.
