Virbhadra seeks funds to strengthen communication network

    New Delhi : Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh Saturday called on union Communications and Information Technology Minister Kapil Sibal here and sought liberal assistance to strengthen communication network in rural areas of the state.

    The chief minister told Sibal that people-centric services were being provided to the masses through around 2,500 ‘Lok Mitra Kendra’ in rural areas.

    He said there was a proposal to convert 10 important government departments as ‘E-offices’ for bringing efficiency and transparency in their functioning.

    Singh said effective use of information technology was being ensured to provide education to the schoolchildren.

    Appreciating the efforts of the state government, Sibal assured the chief minister of providing all possible help.
