Kabul: Two Afghan civilians were killed while five were wounded in a suicide bombing that targeted a police convoy in the country’s northern province of Kunduz Saturday, authorities said.
“A suicide bomber riding a motorcycle detonated his explosive close to a police convoy in Pul-e-Muhib area of Khan Abad district at around 10.20 a.m. Two bystanders were killed and five civilians were wounded as a result of the blast,” District Governor Hayatullah Amiri told Xinhua.
One police vehicle was damaged in the explosion.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
About 2,900 civilians were killed and nearly 5,700 wounded in conflicts and Taliban-led attacks in the war-torn country last year, according to UN officials.
