Gulbarga (Karnataka) : BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi Friday claimed people have realised that the Congress party was responsible for their miseries and hence that party would be wiped out in the Lok Sahba polls.
Addressing an election rally in this north Karnataka town, around 270 km from Bangalore, he attacked Congress President Sonia Gandhi, without naming her, for what he described as her failure to “give an account of 10 years’ rule” to the people.
Speaking in Hindi, he said: “Madam was here 10 days back. Did she give an account of what the government has done.”
Charging that Andhra Pradesh bifurcation was botched up by the Congress party for vote bank politics, Modi said: “Look what has been done by ‘dus numbari’ Gandhi”. He was making a pun on the house number of Sonia Gandhi in New Delhi – 10, Janpath.
He said the bifurcation of Andhra was like “killing the mother while giving birth to a child”.
Modi told the people: “Don’t trust the Congress.”
