Aligarh: The Vice Chancellor of Aligarh Muslim University, Lt. Gen. Zameer Uddin Shah (Retd.) has warned that he may be compelled to reconsider his decision for holding elections to AMU Students’ Union (AMUSU), if the present state of affairs continues at the campus. He was referring to some recent incidents of violence involving different student groups.
Sharply reacting to the repeated cases of firing and group clashes in AMU campus, Gen. Shah said that some self-designed and unscrupulous leaders among students are trying to ghettoize student voters in the wake of the proposed elections to the AMU Students’ Union. He said that some obnoxious vested interests are fanning dissent among students to gain personal mileage.
The Vice Chancellor said that elections to the AMU Students’ Union will only be held in an atmosphere conducive to genuine and peaceful student activities.
