New Delhi: The Tagore Research and Translation Scheme (TRTS) in the Department of Urdu was applauded by Prof. Talat Ahmad, Vice-Chancellor of Jamia Millia Islamia for having realized its objectives on completion of its two-year term.
Addressing a National Advisory Committee meeting under the aegis of Tagore Research and Translation Scheme, Department of Urdu, the Vice-Chancellor, JMI commended the efforts of experts and faculty members of the Department of Urdu for having worked together as a team to translate writings of Rabindranath Tagore into Urdu. He opined that departments should involve young faculty members and research scholars to take all academic and research/project activities forward. He observed that research and publications done by the Departments and Centres of Jamia will lead to improvement in citations and the degrees granted by the university would have enhanced prestige.
Earlier, Prof. Wahajuddin Alvi, Head, Department of Urdu, JMI welcomed the Members of the Committee and thanked them for their unstinted support towards fulfillment of the objectives of the Tagore Research & Translation Scheme. He thanked the Vice-Chancellor for his leadership and guidance.
The project has published 9 titles and intends to publish 4 more for which it has requested extension of the Tagore Research and Translation Scheme by another six months. The Department of Urdu intends to upload the pdf files of all the books published under TRTS on Jamia website.
Prof. Shahzad Anjum, TRTS Coordinator, presented a comprehensive report detailing the efforts and challenges confronted in the administration of the project.
