New Delhi: The Central Council for Research in Unani Medicine (CCRUM) libraries will be automated with the help of e-Granthalaya, a library automation software, announced Prof S Shakir Jamil, Director General, Central Council for Research in Unani Medicine (CCRUM) here.
“The basic need of research is to survey existing research and information which can’t be possible without libraries. It is therefore that the libraries should be equipped with the state-of-the-art technologies and facilities, Prof Jamil said while inaugurating the Council’s three-day ‘Workshop on library automation and networking’.

E-Granthalaya software is developed by National Informatics Centre (NIC), Mohammad Niyaz Ahmad, CCRUM’s Research Officer (Publication), said in a release.
Dr RK Matoria, Technical Director, NIC said all support would be extended to the CCRUM for automation of its libraries and training of the library staff. Dr VK Srivastava, Head (Publication and Information), Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), New Delhi said the concept of library had undergone drastic change during last 10 years. Earlier, Dr Khalid M Siddiqui, Deputy Director General, CCRUM highlighted the importance of automaton and objectives of organizing the workshop. Azhar Khan, organizing secretary of the workshop, thanked the guests and participants, the release added.
