Suspected Swine Flu: AMU suspends all classes till Feb 25

Aligarh: In view of some confirmed and some suspected cases of Swine Flu, the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) has suspended all classes in the University and its maintained institutions including schools till February 25, 2015.

Further, with an objective to create a deterrent to the disease, all events in the University such as seminars, workshops, meetings of Executive Council, AMU Court and election of representatives of University teachers to AMU Court, scheduled during this period, have also been postponed till further orders as a precautionary measure, a release from AMU PRO said.

This decision was taken in a meeting of University officials including Deans of Faculties and Principals of Colleges, held to take stock of situation pertaining cases of Swine Flu, which was presided over by the Acting Vice Chancellor, Brigadier S. Ahmad Ali.

In a notification issued by the University Registrar, Dr. Asfar Ali Khan, it was emphasized that all tours outside AMU will remain suspended till further orders. The notification, however, made it clear that all offices including academic departments, hospitals and other institutions will continue to function as usual.

The University Proctor, Prof. Jamshed Siddiqui has distributed 10,000 masks to the hostel inmates of all halls of residence, while JNMC Principal has provided 2,000 masks to the University Health Service to be distributed among students, it said.
