New Delhi : A rally to promote road safety awareness among women was organised here on Sunday by International two-wheeler maker Honda in collaboration with the Delhi Traffic Police.
Organised on the occasion of International Women’s Day, the rally was flagged off by Delhi Police Commissioner B.S. Bassi in the presence of senior officials from Honda.
“It is our strong belief that strong and empowered women are the backbone of flourishing societies,” said Yadvinder S. Guleria, vice president, Sales and Marketing, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India Pvt. Ltd.
“We want to permeate the message of road safety among women riders by encouraging the use of helmet while riding two-wheelers.”
Stating that there is alarming rise among women to not wear helmets, Guleria said: “We are hopeful such initiatives will help in creating awareness and sensitising the society towards the use of helmets.”
“We are thankful to the Delhi traffic police for their continued support in our joint efforts for making Delhi roads safe for all,” he added.
A traffic safety training session was also organised for the women after the rally.
