Aligarh: Noted film director Muzaffar Ali has agreed to make a film on Sir Syed’s life and contributions, which could be presented as a special tribute to the great social reformer and founder of the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), which could be presented as a special tribute to Sir Syed to celebrate his bicentennial birth anniversary.
AMU vice chancellor Lt Gen Zameer Uddin Shah urged Ali – also an AMU alumnus – who had come to participate at the meeting of the AMU Court, to make a film on Sir Syed’s life and contributions, a release from AMU PRO said.

Ali said it would be an honour to him to make a film on Sir Syed. He also held a discussion with Dr Rahat Abrar, AMU’s public relations officer, on the proposed film project.
The AMU, in order to perpetuate the memory of founder Sir Syed Ahmad Khan, on Wednesday decided to celebrate his bicentennial birth anniversary in a befitting manner. Shah has constituted a five-member committee to chalk out wide-ranging programmes to highlight the contributions of Sir Syed and revive his educational mission.
Sir Syed, who was born on October 17, 1817 in Delhi, dedicated his life for educational and cultural awakening in the country and worked for bringing renaissance amongst the marginalized section of society. He established the Mohammedan Anglo Oriental College in 1877 in Aligarh, which in 1920, transformed into the Aligarh Muslim University.
The committee, which is to be headed by Prof Abdur Raheem Kidwai, director, Academic Staff College, includes Professor Shan Mohammad, former chairman, Department of Political Science; Professor Iftikhar Alam, former director, Sir Syed Academy; Professor Abu Sufiyan Islahi, department of Arabic and Dr Abrar as its members.
