New Delhi : To facilitate boarding and alighting of ladies from the same coach and avoid inconvenience to women passengers travelling on Line 1 (Dilshad Garden to Rithala), the Delhi Metro from Saturday has decided to change the locations of the ladies coach, an official statement said on Friday.
While lady passengers boarding the trains from Rithala going towards Dilshad Garden are advised that the last coach of the train will be the ladies’ coach, for those travelling from the opposite direction the first coach will continue to be the reserved coach as before.
“This step is being taken to ensure ‘Ladies in and Ladies out’ from the same coach and to avoid inconvenience to women passengers who had to, otherwise face difficulties in de-boarding at terminal stations of Dilshad Garden and Rithala,” the statement said.
Announcements would be made inside the trains running on this route and also at stations.
Guards would also be deployed at platforms of crowded stations of this line to guide the passengers during the initial period.
The Delhi Metro has already implemented the same mechanism on the line running between the Central Secretariat and Badarpur stations and also Mundka and Inderlok/Kirtinagar stations.
The provision of first coach of every train reserved as ‘Ladies only coach’ will remain unchanged on other lines.
