New Delhi : Ex-servicemen on Saturday said they will launch an agitation from June 15, if the government does not give a timeline for implementation of One Rank One Pension.
The announcement came after a meeting of ex-servicemen with Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar failed to come to any conclusion.
“We met the defence minister. He said the plan is being worked on and we will implement it. If they come out with a date, we will suspend the agitation, otherwise we will launch an agitation,” chairman of Ex-Servicemen Movement of India Maj. Gen. Satbir Singh (Retd) said on Saturday.
“We will launch the agitation at Jantar Mantar and will go on relay hunger strike from June 15,” he said.
The ex-servicemen were accompanied by Army Chief General Dalbir Singh in the meeting.
Asked if they got any assurance, the veteran said the minister told them they are working out the details.
“He did not say when it will be implemented,” Singh said.
With OROP, the retired personnel would draw the same pension as officers and soldiers of the same rank who are retiring now.
