Taipei: A 20-year-old woman on Monday succumbed to burn injuries sustained in a bizarre fire in a Taiwan water park over the weekend, authorities said adding that another 515 people, including 204 students, remained on the injured list.
The woman, identified as Lee, suffered burns to 90 percent of her body, Xinhua reported.
The fire broke out in Taiwan’s New Taipei city late Saturday in a recreational water park having a Colour Play Asia party.
A total of 194 people were severely wounded, reported Xinhua citing New Taipei city health bureau. The injured people were rushed to 39 nearby hospitals.
A large amount of theatrical coloured powder ejected from the stage spontaneously combusted before landing on the audience.
This is the worst incident of mass injury in the history of New Taipei city, an official said.
