Mourning the death of former President APJ Abdul Kalam
We, the Jamia biradari, have assembled here to mourn the death of former President APJ Abdul Kalam who was a visionary, a scientist par excellence and a President who connected with the hearts of over a billion people. As the President of the Republic of India, he redefined the constitutional office that he held by leaving no opportunity to connect with the people, particularly youth, to stir them to creative and virtuous action for the betterment of our nation and humanity at large.
His India Vision 2020 was aimed at translating constitutional guarantees to people of India into a reality whereby every citizen could live a life of peace and dignity with economic independence. His simplicity and selfless service to the nation would continue to be a source of inspiration for all of us. He was truly People’s President and above all an indefatigable teacher with ceaseless passion to engage with students and youth to explore ideas for the onward march of the nation.
We, in Jamia Millia Islamia, the faculty, the students, the administrative and non-teaching staff salute this illustrious son of India. May his soul Rest in Peace.
