Aligarh: The complete file of the historical social reform journal, Tahzibul Akhlaque, published by the founder of the Aligarh Muslim University, Sir Syed Ahmad Khan is now available at the Maulana Azad Library of the University.
According to Dr Ata Khursheed, Assistant Librarian, Maulana Azad Library, Sir Syed started two journals, “Aligarh Institute Gazette” in 1866 and “Tahzeebul-Akhlaq” in 1870. However, the complete files of both the journals were not available in any library throughout the world. He said that even the Maulana Azad Library did not have the complete file as twelve different issues of “Tahzeebul-Akhlaq” were missing.
Dr. Khursheed said that with a painstaking effort he has succeeded in gathering the copied version of the missing files of “Tahzeebul-Akhlaq” from different libraries of the world.
The Vice Chancellor, Lt. Gen. Zameer Uddin Shah has congratulated Dr. Khursheed on the achievement. He said, “You have rendered invaluable service to your alma mater. We value your continuous efforts”.
Dr. Khursheed said that it was a tribute from his side on Sir Syed’s bicentenary celebration”. He hoped that soon he will be able to find the missing files of the historical journal “Aligarh Institute Gazette” only to make the Maulana Azad Library’s treasures richer.
