No Israeli help sought for Mayawati’s security: officials

Lucknow, Jan 22 (IANS) A top Uttar Pradesh official Tuesday night dismissed as a “figment of imagination” a television channel report claiming that Chief Minister Mayawati had sought the help of Israeli sleuths to reinforce her personal security.

Refuting the news, state police chief Vikram Singh told IANS late Tuesday night, “I just saw the new on a TV channel and I am shocked.” The report was telecast by the CNN-IBN news channel Tuesday.

He denied that any foreign security sleuths would be invited to protect the chief minister. “We are ourselves well quipped to protect our chief minister; of course in view of the terrorist threats we do need to enhance her security, but that does not mean that we will get foreigners to do the needful,” he said.
