Agra : People in the city of Taj are disappointed by news reports that French President Nicholas Sarkozy’s girlfriend Carla Bruni will not be accompanying him on his trip to India.
“Many of us were keen to see the two lovers at the monument of love,” said hotelier Sandeep Arora.
“Obviously there was so much excitement and interest here, but due to her engagements it appears that the visit has been postponed,” said media person Rajeev Saxena.
“They would have made a perfect picture against the dazzling Taj,” said Vishal, a photographer.
Udai Ram, additional district magistrate (protocol), said authorities are gearing up for Sarkozy’s brief visit Jan 26.
The road from the Kheria airport to the Taj Mahal is being spruced up.
Municipal Commissioner Shyam Singh Yadav told IANS: “So far there is no confirmed programme but we are prepared and are looking forward to the visit.”
Security has been beefed up at all sensitive points, a police official said.
