Tableaux tell Rajasthan’s growth story on Republic Day

Ajmer : Governor of Rajasthan S.K. Singh hoisted the tricolour amid tight security arrangement on the 59th Republic day, held here Saturday.

The high point of the celebrations in Ajmer, the city of the holy shrine of Sufi saint Khawaja Moinuddin Chishti, were the decorated tableaux that encapsulated the story of the growth of modern Rajasthan.

They rolled down the parade ground in a colourful convoy amid whoops of joy and wonder from the audience.

The governor took the salute from various wings of the state police, NCC cadets and volunteers of the scouts and guides at the Patel stadium in Ajmer. Chief Minister Vausundhara Raje and some of her cabinet colleagues were also present on the occasion. Singh also honoured 51 persons for distinguished and meritorious services.

Over 800 schoolchildren presented a show of physical exercises in colourful dresses. Schoolgirls presented folk dances. Other attractions were the adventures shows and dare devil acts by Rajasthan Police personnel.

The governor honoured 51 people for distinguished and meritorious services. He also awarded police medals and other bravery medals.

Various district headquarters reported colourful Republic Day celebrations with parades and cultural programmes.
