Dhaka : At least 11 people were killed and over 50 injured in a series of road accidents across Bangladesh caused by driving in heavy fog, media reports said Sunday.
The worst occurred in central Munshiganj district when a crowded bus overshot a culvert and plunged into a ditch killing four passengers and injuring 15 several critically.
The local Bengali daily Ittefaq said the bus driver was speeding despite the poor visibility.
Four people died in a head-on collision of two coaches in the northeastern Habiganj district and 13 were injured, the newspaper report said.
One person was killed and 12 injured when a truck of the paramilitary border guards collided with a coach near Chittagong overnight. The coach was taking home Muslim pilgrims from Dhaka.
A motorcyclist was reported killed when a speeding bus hit him from behind near the town of Gaffargaon in eastern Bangladesh.
The media reported the death of another person in a highway accident close to the farming town of Raipura. Ten people were injured in that crash.
