New Delhi : Vir Sanghvi has quit as CEO of INX News and the editorial head of the group’s upcoming news channel NewsX.

A press release issued by INX News said the media company and Sanghvi had jointly announced their decision to terminate their professional working relationship with effect from Tuesday.

“I wish Vir well in his future endeavours. NewsX is on target for a speedy launch, and we will announce a new editorial head shortly,” said Indrani Mukerjea, chairperson, INX News.

There was no confirmation on who might be replacing Sanghvi, but according to reliable reports the head of a leading Hindi news channel might be taking charge in due course.

In his parting message, Sanghvi said, “I hope that we can now put the rumours, leaks and plants of the last fortnight behind us as we have separated in an atmosphere of goodwill and amicability.”

INX News Pvt Ltd is expected to soon launch NewsX as the country’s fifth English news channel as this space gets more crowded and competitive. The four 24X7 English news channels currently running are NDTV, CNN-IBN, Times Now and Headlines Today.

The media company recently launched the Hindi general entertainment channel 9X and the Hindi music entertainment channel for youth 9XM.
