New Delhi : Delhiites again will have an opportunity to come in close contact with world literature. The 18th New Delhi World Book Fair will be held at Pragati Maidan from February 2-10. More than 1200 publishers from 23 countries will display their books. As India has declared 2008 as Russian Year, Russia has been invited in the fair as an honorary guest. This was announced by the director of National Book Trust (NBT) Nuzhat Husain at a press conference in Shastri Bhawan. Nuzhat Husain told more than 80 Russian publishers will display their latest publications in the Russian pavilion. Russia will also organize some debates, literary events and special programs for children. During the fair, NBT will also organize a series of programs, workshops and lectures. In 1957, Government of India established National Book Trust to organize book fairs across the country in order to promote the habit of reading among the masses.
