Bhopal : With students increasingly aspiring for technical education, the Madhya Pradesh government has decided to open at least one polytechnic institute in every district this year.
“During the current financial year remarkable achievements have been made in the state as far as technical education is concerned and the decision to open at least one polytechnic in every district in next financial year (starting April 1) has been taken in view of the increasing inclination of students towards technical education,” said an official of the technical education department.
“Admissions in technical courses have registered 15.3 percent increase during the current financial year while the seats in technical education institutions have been increased by 16 percent,” he said.
The state at present has 418 technical education institutions with a cumulative strength of 64,000 students, the official said, adding that all the engineering and polytechnic colleges of the state would also be provided with language labs.
Each polytechnic would have at least four technical branches and the seats in every technical college would be increased to 240. In such a case, if required, new buildings would also be constructed.
Besides, the most sought-after technical colleges would be run in two shifts.
