Gaza : Saraya al-Quds, Islamic Jihad (Holy War)movement’s armed wing claimed responsibility on Saturday night for launching two homemade rockets from the Gaza Strip at southern Israel.
The group said in a leaflet sent to reporters that its militants fired the rockets from northern Gaza Strip at the southern Israeli town of Sderot, adding “the attacks are retaliatory to Israeli daily attacks on the Palestinian people.”
Israel Radio quoted Israeli army sources as saying that sirens were turned on in Sderot after the two rockets landed at an empty area near the town, causing no damages or injuries.
Meanwhile, Islamic Hamas movement called on Palestinian armed groups to escalate their armed attacks against Israel “in response to the Israeli policy of building and expanding settlements in the West Bank.”
Hamas and other militant groups had temporarily stopped rockets attacks at southern Israeli towns two weeks ago, after hundreds of thousands crossed from Gaza into Egypt as Hamas militants bombed the fence of the borders.
