New Delhi : Finance Minister P. Chidambaram got full support from his wife and son, who hailed the national budget for 2008-09 as “a complete budget” that took care of all sections of society.
“It is a good budget. There is something for all sections of society,” said Nalini Chidambaram, eminent lawyer and wife of the finance minister.
When asked about the sops for women in the budget, she said: “I am not a feminist but it is good for all sections”.
Chidambaram’s son Kartik, who was present in the parliament’s visitors’ gallery with his mother, defined the budget as a “sensitive budget”.
“It is a sensitive budget and the need of the hour is to save farmers which is covered in the budget. It is also good for the individual as it gives him options to prioritise and allows him to spend the money as he wants.”
