Chandigarh : The Punjab government Monday announced a cash reward of Rs.100,000 for each of the four cricketers from the state who were part of the Indian team that won the Under-19 Cricket World Cup.
The four players from Punjab and Chandigarh are Siddharth Kaul, Taruvar Kohli, Mandeep Singh and Parry Goyal.
The U-19 team won the World Cup in their final match in Kuala Lumpur Sunday, beating South Africa in a close encounter.
Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal congratulated the team and especially the players from Punjab. “They have done the country and Punjab proud,” he said.
Badal also congratulated the team’s assistant coach, Manish Bali, who is also from Punjab.
