New Delhi : India has developed institutional mechanisms at international level to counter acts of terrorism in the country, the government told the parliament here Tuesday.

Border fencing, floodlighting and strengthening of arrangements for coastal security were other steps India has taken to check infiltration, Minister of State for Home Sriprakash Jaiswal said in reply to questions in Lok Sabha (Lower House).

Close vigilance and surveillance is being maintained on the borders, he said.

“In view of the external imperatives of the terrorist activities and violence in various parts of the country, action is also being taken at the international level through bilateral and multilateral cooperation to check and counter terrorism and several institutional mechanisms have been developed towards this end,” the minister said.
