Cairo : The Secretary-General of the Arab League Amr Moussa here Wednesday called on the UN Security Council and the international Quartet to shoulder their responsibilities towards the Palestinian cause and deal with the Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people.
In a speech before the 129th forministers’ session, Moussa described the situation in the region and the world as “very complex”, saying that the Arab world has to work collectively and not to surrender to the regrettable and unfortunate reality. He noted that the current session was held amid accelerating preparations for the convening of the Arab summit and amidst increasing size of the risks that surround the Arab nation in Palestine, Lebanon, Sudan, Somalia and threats against the Arab national security. Moussa emphasized that the league has made great efforts to deal with the problems of the region through the Arab peace initiative as well as the situation in Lebanon, Sudan, Somalia and prepared for the economic summit in Kuwait early next year.
