Islamabad : Pakistani Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani said Pakistan was a peace-loving country and believed in peaceful co-existence with credible minimum deterrence.
“Pakistan’s defense doctrine is based on maintaining credible minimum deterrence to safeguard sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country and to ensure peace and stability in the region,” Gillani said Monday while talking to Chief of the Air Staff Marshal Tanveer Mehmood Ahmad at PM House here.
The Associated Press of Pakistan quoted Gillani as saying that the government would continue to focus on improving indigenous capabilities besides entering into more joint ventures with other countries to defend the aerial frontiers of the country.
Marshal Tanveer Mehmood Ahmad apprised Gillani of the ongoing upgrade and modernization initiatives and updated him on various programs to enhance indigenous capabilities of the Pakistan Air Force.
