Kolkata : Aptech Ltd, a global learning solutions company, launched a new centre of its aviation training wing, Avalon Aviation Academy, in Kolkata Saturday.
The centre, opened at Salt Lake in eastern Kolkata, offers diploma in cabin and ground crew services, and certificate courses in fares and ticketing, personality development and customer service.
Head of the academy Preeti Malik told IANS: “While most of the other institutes focus on the glamour part of this profession, we will be working on the academics that includes the right curriculum, methodology and certification.”
Speaking of the boom in the aviation industry, Malik said: “With (Civil) Aviation Minister Praful Patel trying to convert every air strip to an airport under his Plan 20-20 and a number of new airlines being launched every year, the market demand is rising every day.
“At Avalon we are giving 100 percent job guarantee to all our trainees. On failing we will return 50 percent of their course fees.”
The brand ambassador of Avalon, ex-miss world Diana Hayden, said: “In our times we used to receive on-job training. But the competition is so high in the aviation sector that if you are not properly groomed before trying for a job, your busy employers are flooded with options.”
The course duration will vary from six months to one year. The centre at Kolkata will start functioning from May.
Avalon Aviation Academy was launched in 2006 in collaboration with the Karnataka State Open University. Till date, it has set up 51 centres across India. The institute has strategic alliance with 38 domestic and international airlines.
