Blast Kills Two British Soldiers

Kabul : Two British soldiers from International Security Assistance Forces (ISAF) died and two others were wounded by a blast on Sunday in southern Afghanistan, said the NATO’s spokesmen.

At least 11 policemen died during an attack of Afghan rebels to a control post in the southern convulsive province of Kandahar, announced the Interior Ministry in this capital.

According to Kandahar police’s deputy director Amunallah Khan the rebels attacked a control post in Arghandab district early this morning, killing 11 soldiers.

Khan said the first investigation’s results showed that one of the soldiers had connections with the assailants infiltrated in the post and opened fire on the policemen; the rebels took vehicles and weapons.

The rebels’ spokesman Yusuf Ahmadi told the media by telephone that 50 rebels were the responsible for the attack and that they seized two vehicles during the attack to the police post.

Khan also noted that four soldiers died in Kandahar last Sunday when alleged rebels attacked a patrol in Maiwand. About 50,000 British soldiers from ISAF Ander the NATO command and other 20,000 under US command remain in territory of this Central Asian nation.
