Cooperation between executive, legislative authorities vital

By KUNA,

Kuwait : Candidate in the fourth constituency Mubarak Al-Khrainej stressed the importance of optimum cooperation between the executive and legislative authorities in order to achieve the social and economic welfare of the country.

The candidate was addressing a symposium on “The Promised and the Achieved”, inaugurating his election campaign.

Al-Khrainej said the decision of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to dissolve the National Assembly was out of a sense of responsibility and a result of a great crisis of cooperation between the two authorities. He also urged all to “mind the lessons of the past.” He added that the region is experiencing difficult circumstances which require vigilance and putting the country’s interest above all else, saying that “The common citizen needs serious discussion of his issues, away from any electoral calculations.” He mentioned that sound choice of MPs based on efficiency and credibility is the key to change and reform. He also refused to be called “pro-government”, saying that he stood against the government on some issues.

He said that revoking confidence in a minister and presenting the bad debt law are two examples showing he takes his stances on case to case basis. He also remarked this election is equal in effect to a grilling of a minister, the subject of attention being MPs of the dissolved NA who are running again for the May vote.

On the issue of loans, the KD 50 pay increase, and removal of unlicensed Diwaniyas, Al-Khrainej said these are important issues that he would be focusing on.

On other issues, he said he will exert all possible effort to guarantee decent livelihood for the state’s bedoun (illegal residents) and oppose incriminating by-elections.
