Raipur : Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh Wednesday suspended three officials after detecting irregularities in rice distribution during a surprise check in Rajnandgaon district.
Singh made an unscheduled landing in village Barsan Tola while travelling in a helicopter. He inspected a government ration shop and found less quantity of rice in packets meant for poor families.
Singh also raided the civil supplies department store at Rajnandgaon town. There too he found less rice in packets.
He immediately suspended the district manager of civil supplies, storage incharge and a warehouse official.
The state government provides 35 kg rice in packets every month to nearly 60 percent of the 20.08 million population in Chhattisgarh at Rs. 3 a kg.
