Unanimously condemning all types of terrorism in strong words, speakers stressed that violence, riots, killing and blood-shedding are unpardonable crimes. Declaring that Islam is the religion of peace, they said Zionist forces are busy in hatching conspiracies against Islam at global level and unholy attempts are on to associate this religion of peace with terrorism.

The conference was attended by rector of Darul Uloom Nadwatul Ulema (Lucknow) Maulana Sayeedur Rahman Azmi, vice-president of All India Muslim Personal Law Board, Dr. Kalb-e-Sadiq, Na’ib Imam of Idgah in Lucknow, Maulana Khalid Rashid Firangi Mahalli, secretary of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Maulana Mohammad Ahmad, Dr. J. K. Jain, and Ramon Magsaysay award-winner Sandeep Pandey.

MP Maulana Mahmood Madani said Islam is being defamed all over the world. Calling the majority of the country as ‘justice-loving’ and secular, he said that in spite of the fact that a large number of justice-loving persons are there in the country, a handful of people have succeeded in giving an impression that there must be some relation between Islam and terrorism.

Comparing Indian Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru with Sarabjit Singh who is presently sentenced in a Pakistan jail, Magsaysay award-winner Sandeep Pandey said there is a section of people in the country that is demanding release of Sarabjit Singh but hanging of Afzal Guru. He said there is no substantial evidence against Afzal Guru.

Dr. Kalb-e-Sadiq said he often thinks that Muslims are being turned into terrorists under some deeper conspiracy. He expressed his apprehension that anyone who is not a terrorist would really become a terrorist if oppression and excesses and the trend to detain innocents as terrorists continued in the same fashion. He advised Muslims to shun emotional politics. He stressed on unity among Muslims.
