Surabaya : Head of the National Awakening Party (PKB)’s Advisory Board KH Abdurahman Wahid alias Gus Dur admitted that he might be the target of an assassin at his house.
“Just pray for my safety, as I may be the target of the assassin. Luckily, the shooting only hit my house. Then many soldiers and policemen rushed to my house,” Indonesia’s ANTARA news agency quoted him as saying to executives of PKB, Nahdlatul Ulema moslem organization and some ulemas here on Sunday.
In his statement, he unveiled much about the critics of PKB in observing the result of the district head election in Kudus, regional leaders elections in West Java and North Sumatra which is full of lies.
“Our country is full of lies and PKB has the courage to deal with them, and it appeared that the shooting of my house is aimed at frightening me,” he said, adding that in Kudus, each voter was paid Rp5,000 (RM1.70), but the general election commission (KPU) only kept tight-lipped about this, which is a violation with the perpetrators to brought to justice.
Such similar incidents, he said, also happened in West Java and North Sumatra. In West Java, around 900,000 voters (55.5 percent)were not registered at the KPU.
According to Gus Dur, Indonesia should not be built on the basis of lies and disloyalty, because such attitude had already caused Indonesia to plunge into a protrated crisis especially in the people’s confidence in the goverment.
“But I have to put PKB back on the right track, as some branch offices of the party have been frozen because of their lies. Thank God, now everything is better,” he said.
