ICC confirms shifting annual meet from Lords to Dubai

By IANS,

Dubai : Ending its 99-year-old association with the historic Lords, the International Cricket Council (ICC) Monday confirmed that its annual conference will instead take place here June 29 to July 4.

The week, during which the ICC Chief Executives’ Committee and the ICC Board will meet, will also see David Morgan taking over as the president of the game’s world governing body and Haroon Lorgat as its chief executive officer.

Originally, the annual conference was scheduled to take place at the Lords in London. But the ICC Board decided to move the location after British authorities denied visa to Zimbabwe Cricket Association president Peter Chingoka.

It has been reported that the decision to consider abandoning London as the host venue was taken by the majority of the ICC executive board at the opening of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in Bangalore last week.
